Lucia Etxebarria estudió periodismo y filología. Comenzó a trabajar a los 18 años en una agencia de prensa. Continuó trabajando como jefa de prensa y responsable de comunicación en diversas multinacionales hasta que en 1998 obtuvo el Premio Nadal por Beatriz y los cuerpos celestes. Años después ganaría el Premio Planeta con Un milagro en equilibrio. Ha obtenido también el Premio de Los lectores de la feria del libro de Bilbao, el premio Il Lazio de novela concedido por el Ministerio de Cultura Italiano, el Premio Primavera de Novela y el Premio Barcarola de poesía.A los cincuenta años decidió estudiar psicología. Realizó las prácticas en un gabinete en el que asistió a clientes ofreciéndoles sesiones de escritura expresiva. Es máster en neuropsicología e imparte talleres de escritura expresiva desde hace quince años. Es autora de La escritura que cura. Manual de escritura expresiva publicado en la colección Serendipity de esta misma editorial.
