It provides the correct calibration for pH meters to give accurate readings. Although these pouches are designed for one-time use, there's enough liquid buffer for two or three uses if a clean vial is used, and only a small amount is used. These buffer pouches are intended as reference solutions to calibrate ph meters and to provide a non-harmful storage solution for the pH probes. Users recommend storing the sensor in the cap, where there's a sponge that should be kept moist at pH of 4.
