The frame pack has great padding on the shoulders and back support, which can be adjusted to your preference. The backpack can hold a reasonable amount of meat and hunting needs while still remaining lightweight. The external frame has plenty of straps that can be used to attach odd items, such as a tarp and a hammock, in snake skins. It can easily carry a hind quarter of a moose or elk with no problem which is around 85-100lb. The quality of the materials used in the pack is impressive and ALPS Mountaineering has put some thought and time into designing this pack. The side pockets are great to store game bags, extra flashlights, knives, etc. Additionally, they have added three extra straps that can be hooked onto the other straps for larger big games such as elk and moose. The ALPS Extreme Commander X Frame pack has been used to pack out various game such as elk antlers, deer, and moose by professional guides. One of the downfalls of this product is that if you lay on your stomach for stalking, you have to take this pack off. The pack makes a noise if you are hunting with it as a daypack. Some people may find the pack to be too noisy.
