The world-building is impressive, and the characterizations are compelling. The book follows the story of Damen being gifted to Prince Laurent of Vere as a pleasure slave while everyone in Akielos is told that he's dead. The book is being sold as a romance, but it is more of a political story. The book has complex and rich characters with a well-crafted storyline. Readers would enjoy the love-hate chemistry between Laurent and Damen. There are some steamy, tasteful naughty scenes but fewer sex scenes than expected. Though there is room for more details on some plots, the book is engaging. The book is intriguing enough for readers to come back to reading it whenever they can.
