What is a 19mm latching push button switch and how does it work?

A 19mm latching push button switch is a type of electrical switch that stays in its last position when pressed, meaning it can toggle between 'on' and 'off' states without needing continuous pressure. This feature is incredibly useful for applications like automotive lighting or control panels, where you want to maintain an operation without holding the button. The waterproof design further extends its usability to areas exposed to moisture, making it suitable for outdoor or high-humidity environments.

Is the 19mm push button switch suitable for automotive applications?

Yes, this 19mm push button switch is ideal for automotive applications, especially with its 12V DC rating, which aligns with the standard voltage in most vehicles. Its waterproof design offers additional protection against dust and moisture, ensuring reliable performance. It's perfect for controlling lights, horns, or any custom electronics in vehicles, allowing for a professional and durable control interface.

What does the '1NO1NC' specification mean?

'1NO1NC' refers to the switch's configuration, meaning it has one normally open (NO) and one normally closed (NC) contact. This allows for versatile usage in various circuits. The normally open contact activates the device when the switch is pressed, while the normally closed contact interrupts the current. This dual functionality is ideal for projects where you may need to either start or stop a circuit based on the switch position.

Can this switch be used for LED applications?

Absolutely! This push button switch includes an integrated LED that enhances visibility, making it perfect for applications where clear status indication is important. The white light provides a modern look, while illuminating control panels or dashboards. Use it in environments like boats, ATVs, or night-time setups to ensure users can easily identify the switch's status.

How is the latching push button switch wired?

The latching push button switch comes with a pre-wired harness that simplifies installation. You typically connect the switch to the power supply, load, and ground. The included wiring ensures a secure and reliable connection, making it suitable for both DIY enthusiasts and professional installations. This setup is especially beneficial in automotive or electronic projects where ease of installation is crucial.

Is this switch energy efficient?

Yes, this latching push button switch is designed to be energy efficient by utilizing a low voltage of 12V DC. This means it consumes minimal power while in operation, making it an excellent choice for battery-powered projects or vehicles. With less energy wasted, you can enjoy extended battery life for your devices, which is particularly important in off-grid scenarios.

What kind of materials are used in this switch?

The 19mm latching push button switch features a durable black shell that is resistant to impact and wear. The waterproof design is achieved with a robust gasket seal, ensuring longevity even in harsh conditions. This quality construction makes it suitable for outdoor installations, including marine applications where exposure to water and elements is common.

Can I use multiple switches together?

Yes, you can use multiple latching push button switches in a configuration, either in parallel or series, depending on your circuit requirements. This flexibility allows for more complex setups like control panels where one switch might manage different functionalities or devices. Just ensure that your power supply can handle the total load of the connected switches and devices.

How do you reset or change the state of the latching push button switch?

Resetting or changing the state of the latching push button switch is as simple as pressing the button again. When you press it, it toggles between the 'on' and 'off' positions. This self-locking feature makes it perfect for quick access controls, such as turning off lights or equipment when not in use, without needing manual resets or additional components.
