The spray is easy to apply using an airless sprayer, and for thatched roofs, it is recommended to heavily coat the top surface while wetting down the underside. For wood surfaces that are already stained, the effectiveness of the spray will depend on the stain. The product is not topical and needs to be able to soak into the wood. To determine if it will work, a simple water test can be done. If the water beads up on the stained wood, the spray will not work, but if it soaks in, then the spray can be applied.
