The IOGEAR USB 2.0 to Serial RS-232 Adapter (GUC232A) is a high-quality product that works well with various RS-232 devices like modems, Palm Pilots, printers, ignition boxes, fiber meters and others. It’s primarily used for data transfer and not video. The cable comes with a power adaptor and has a buffer limit of 32Kb. It uses the Prolific 2303HXD Chip set and Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) technology that allows for faster data transfer and transmission up to 330ft when connected with another Class 1 Bluetooth device. The product offers Windows drivers that can be downloaded from their website and Linux drivers that are automatically recognized right out of the box. It can also be used with an Android OS and Chromebook when configured on a PC first. Overall, it’s an excellent adapter for RS-232 devices.
