The Klein Tools MM450 Multimeter is a slim digital meter that has auto-ranging TRMS, a range of 600V ACDC voltage, and can measure current, resistance, temperature, frequency, and continuity. The multimeter has a durable shell and oversized display, side-entry test lead jacks, and lights up when a function is selected. It has a milliamp function that makes it ideal for instrumentation applications and a microamp function that works for burner flame signal troubleshooting. The frequency and capacitance and temperature functions are useful for HVAC applications. It comes with a test and temperature probe and has a fabric case. An optional rare-earth magnetic hanging strap is available. The multimeter is relatively affordable compared to other models on the market. However, there are some drawbacks. There are reports that the multimeter blows fuses when measuring 12VDC, but the issue was found to be due to not following the instructions carefully. The multimeter also defaults to the mV range when selecting DC and does not auto-range. The background can be hard to see, even with auto light turned off, and it turns on to AC, so users always have to switch to DC. The two AAA batteries do not last very long. One user tested the multimeter and found it has an error of plus 3.75% in amperage, which may be problematic for those working with low milliamp and microamp ranges. Another minor issue is that when in auto-scale mode, it can take up to five seconds for the reading to finally resolve. Overall, the Klein Tools MM450 Multimeter is a nice tool for the money and has just as many features as a Fluke meter costing four times as much. It works well and seems to be very accurate. Additionally, the size of the volt meter is convenient to carry in a tool pouch or shirt pocket.
