The speaker is directional, clearer, and increases in size slightly for better bass, making a noticeable improvement in sound quality for music. The Zigbee Philips Hue bulb that comes with it can be difficult to install without instructions, and there is no wired audio out. The Echo Dot 5th gen has four mics that are positioned differently than earlier models. The device is well-liked by some customers for its audio quality and smart capabilities, while others find it defective and problematic.
