Harmon Trombone J3 Editorial Review
The Harmon J3 Cup/Straight Trombone Mute Triple Play Combo is designed for versatility, functioning as a cup mute, straight mute, and plunger mute. While the Harmon brand is respected in the music industry, several users have reported concerns regarding its construction and fit. Notably, the mute may not effectively fit larger trombones, and the cup mute's friction fit can make it difficult to remove, creating loud noise during performances. Many players feel that the design could benefit from improvements, especially for longer-term use. Despite its shortcomings, the J3 provides decent sound quality and serves its purpose well for those on a budget.
