The Xerox DocuMate 4700 is a standalone scanner that is easy to set up and scans quickly. It has a large scanning area that accommodates various document sizes up to A3. It scans 24-bit color, grayscale, and black and white. It can scan up to 600dpi with resolutions of 1200dpi available upon registration. The OneTouch software that comes with the scanner allows the user to save files in numerous formats such as PDF, TIFF, and JPG. However, it is not compatible with Linux nor Mac OS. Customers have praised the Xerox DocuMate 4700 for being lightweight, fast, and durable. The scanner is perfect for scanning large documents and books but not recommended for scanning vintage paper as it has a tendency to create a pink hue. Tech support is available to help adjust input/output levels, but it may not be sufficient to correct the color defect. Some customers have experienced problems with the scanner not working or a low-quality scan. The DocuMate 4700 is expensive, but customers confirm it is a well-built scanner with a large scanning area that takes up a lot of table space.
