The larger than average point size allows for comfortable writing and it helps the handwriting to be more legible. In addition, their extra large ball produces smooth lines similar to a gel pen, but not quite as smooth. The pen is not a gel pen, but something BIC calls Easy Glide ink. It writes very smooth, however, it tends to glob up at times which can result in smearing. The phenomenal feel and look of the bold lines is worth the trade-off for some.
