not working on my new Swann security system? Can anyone help?

I thought the same, until someone pointed out I needed to hook up to monitor with audio cord and set the volume up. If your system has Audio ports it will work

whats the range for the microphones? how big of an area will one mic cover?

I installed my microphone on a antenna tower up about 25ft in the air. I can hear the road traffic at about 1200ft away and birds and animals several hundred feet away or a car door shut. It's not quite as sensitive as some built in camera microphones I've had, but it does an adequate job of 200ft to 300ft circumference around your home at maximum volume. Maybe a amplified sound bar would work better, I just have regular tv volume.

If you put it outside, yes. Just make sure its protected from the weather. I can hear cars from a mile away, I can hear my neighbors talking in the house with their door closed. And birds are loud.

Yes you can use this. But I’d go for a better transformer plug. Mine quit working after 1 month.

Try changing the transformer plug. Mine stopped working a month after it was plugged in. Put a new plug on it and it started working again.

Don't know of any websites to share. But I too have a Swann DVR must get and use a pre amp than go into the DVR line in. Otherwise won't mic won't work. Signal needs to be boosted up using a pre amp. Becarful not to over drive the DVR line in or risk damage. Turn pre amp levels down and turn up as needed to a good level. Hope this helps. Pre amp I use is ALTO MX 862. I run 3 mics and last 2 channels for other applications.

Setup your DVR on the network then login to it with your PC or phone. If your computer and DVR are both local and on the same network then use a internet browser and the IP address of the DVR and log in to view the camera where you have assigned the audio. There are instructions with the DVR how to use it online from a remote location. When you save video to a Flash drive and play it back on a PC you can also hear the video.
