The system uses a high efficiency, Dow Filmtec membrane to produce up to 90 gallons per day, and for every 1 gallon of purified water, there is 3 gallons of brine water. However, some customers complain of a clicking noise from the non-electric Permate pump which lasts until the tank is filled again, and that the unit can be noisy overall.
