It comes with six refills and can be sharpened using a regular pencil sharpener to obtain a clean, crisp line. However, it is important to test the marker on a scrap piece of fabric before using it on the actual project to ensure that it rubs or washes off easily. When pressing, the marks may rub off on some fabrics and might not work well on painted canvas or chalkboards. The soapstone measures 6.2mm or .25 inches in diameter and is not interchangeable with standard 5.6mm graphite sticks and holders sold in most art stores.
