The recommended method is to power wash the surface and scrape off any barnacles that might be on the surface. Then you can mask where the old paint line was and apply the antifouling paint. This paint has been rated highly by customers who have used it on their boats. One customer stated that they used this paint on their aluminum hull boat that stays in Gulf Island waters for 360 days a year, and it worked great. Another customer confirmed the use of the paint on a John boat, but for trailerable boats, it was recommended to figure out another way to paint where the bunks or roller from trailer touch the boat.
