The sides of the surface plate are not made to a specific tolerance. The thicker the material, the better the platform. The surface plate is solid and flat, used as the main horizontal reference plane for precision inspection, marking out (layout), and tooling setup. The reviews are mix as some customers have reported the product arriving damaged due to poor packaging. Some of the customers found it to be of high quality and excellent for the price while others received plates with manufacturing defects and are disappointed with their purchase.
