Walthers Tank Cars 931-1613 Editorial Review
The Walthers Trainline 40' Tank Car is a nice and detailed car that is ready to run with metal wheels. It looks great as an addition to any train set, and it fits well on Bachman HO track. However, some buyers have reported issues with weight distribution, causing derailment on switch frogs. Also, the side ladders on the car look out of proportion and funky, but it can easily be replaced with metal ladders from Athearn. The tank can be opened, but it requires some force to pry the two halves apart. The product dimensions listed are inaccurate, measuring only 6.25" from coupler to coupler instead of the advertised 8.5". Some buyers have reported receiving multiple cars with the same road number, which might be an issue for collectors. Some buyers have reported poor quality control with some parts being unusable or the product being damaged during delivery.
