Audient iD44 MKII USB Audio Interface

The Focusrite Clarett 4Pre USB audio interface has gained mixed reviews since its release. While the sound quality is praised for its superior converters compared to the Apollo twin MkII line, there have been complaints about the lack of features for Mac users. Users have been disappointed that there is no way to set sample rate and buffer on Mac outside of a DAW, and no digital view of the master volume. This means that the only gauge for master volume that you have is a meter on the interface that turns red when you are hitting 0db or higher, and there is no way to engage low latency while doing tasks outside of a DAW like calibrating speakers with sonarworks. The interface also lacks a dedicated external master mute button. However, the three function buttons can be assigned three different functions. The review also mentions that the device is slow to arrive when ordering online. On the other hand, a reviewer who previously used the ID44 complimented the Clarett 4Pre for its improved DAC quality, but noted that users who are considering the upgrade from the ID44 should be aware that the improvements are minor compared to the cost of the device.
