The Gorton #1 34" Steam Air Vent is a versatile tool that can be used on both main steam lines and radiators. It is recommended to install a bigger capacity main vent since they can quickly exhaust all the cold air from the main steam pipes and transfer heat faster. However, installation of Gorton D, which has the same capacity as Gorton #1 for eliminating air from the line, is suggested if a bigger capacity vent is not possible. The product's height is 3-1/4" above the coupling and once the valve inside closes, the hissing sound should stop. If the valve is defective, it can affect the radiators on the line and should be boiled in a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution before reinstallation.
