Salon Kitty is a restored 1976 film directed by Tinto Brass that explores the decadence and corruption prevalent in Nazi Germany through a storyline based on Peter Norden's non-fictional book. Tinto Brass claims that the film aims to highlight the misuse of power instead of exploiting women by putting them in an inherently misogynistic situation, but this sentiment might not sit well with every viewer due to the abundance of full-frontal nudity scenes. The restored version of the movie is much sharper and visually clearer than its original release. Though it has a long runtime of 133 minutes, the story is sprawling, with uneven character development and odd dialogues. Nonetheless, viewers who like softcore pornography that also includes a good storyline and production value should definitely watch this piece. One of the advantages of the DVD is that it comes with film trailers, a big improvement in picture quality compared to the movies of that era. The film stars Helmut Berger, Ingrid Thulin, and Dirk Bogarde.
