The Protopasta 3D printer filament is a popular product due to its strength and high-quality print. However, it is essential to Consider some key facts before purchasing. This filament is PLA-based and non-conductive. Once printed, the part starts to soften around 100-120F. Therefore, it is not recommended for high-temperature uses. Carbon-fiber filament is more brittle off the roll, but once extruded, it is equal or stronger than PLA with a matte finish. The shelf life is indefinite while kept dry and contained in a vacuum sealed bag. This filament works well with M3D and Robox printers, but it is highly corrosive, which makes using a nickel-plated brass nozzle necessary. Overall, this filament produces excellent print quality and strength. However, it requires a higher temperature and a .6mm nozzle to work reliably. The packaging of the product is poorly done, reducing the quality of the spool.
