Six of Crows: Collector's Edition book is one of the most celebrated YA fantasy heist novels. The book follows Kaz Brekker, a criminal mastermind, who puts together a group of expert con men and thieves to break into the stronghold of the Ice Court. The mission is tough, everything is unfamiliar, and the odds of survival are low. The narrative alternates between different POV’s: Kaz, Inez, Nina, Jesper, and Matthias. The characters are well-developed, with unique backgrounds, and overall character arcs. The world building is vivid, with highly-detailed political and social hierarchies, classes, and cultures. There is some romance, but it's secondary to the primary plot, with no annoying YA tropes. The main advantage of the Collector's Edition is the exquisite black with red lining pages, striking cover art, and Keith Thompson's maps. However, some readers found the book slow to start, and the world-building unoriginal. Some readers also found it too dark and potentially triggering due to the presence of violence, including a torture scene and sex slavery. Despite its Pros and Cons, Six of Crows: Collector's Edition is widely regarded as one of the best YA fantasy novels, with a deeply immersive world, well-developed characters, and solid storytelling.
