It is versatile in that it can be used for wet and dry sanding applications, including automotive finishes. The sander's throw is 21ga and it is a short throw DA. The sander works best with a compressor that can deliver at least 4cfm and up. The sander is lightweight at approximately 2 pounds. Although the sander doesn't have holes allowing for dust collecting installation with sandpaper having holes, it would work fine in an open area. One thing to note is that the sander configuration may not work with some sandpapers you own, and a new pad may be required for use. Before use, it is recommended that one put some oil on the tool.
