Instruction Editorial Review
The Complete German: A Teach Yourself Program is a highly effective tool for learning the German language. The content is broken down in a way that is easy to understand, making it more accessible compared to other language learning books. The sequencing of the material is excellent, providing a comprehensive learning experience. One of the standout features of this book is the online audio component, which includes smartphone apps for downloading the entire audio. This is particularly useful for those without Constant internet connectivity. However, there is a limitation in that the audio cannot be downloaded to a computer, which may be inconvenient for some users. A notable drawback of the book is the lack of a phonetic pronunciation key. While the book is well-designed overall, having a phonetic dictionary or pronunciation guide would greatly enhance the learning experience. Those who already have a German phrasebook and dictionary with phonetic pronunciations may find this less of an issue. Despite this limitation, the Complete German book is still highly recommended for beginners. It offers a cost-effective option for learning German and provides engaging dialogues. The online audio is a valuable resource for comprehension of spoken German, and the overall setup of the book allows for convenient and efficient learning for those with limited study time.
