The foam strip included in the box can be used to seal the space between the plastic and the wood or metal venting material. The cover is made of high-quality plastic that is much better than the ones replaced by some customers that sagged and cracked in just eight years. It can be mounted facing either way, but the louvers are not angled to shed water. The grill cover snaps in place, but the snap is not super tight, and some customers had to overlay the snaps with tape to make the connection tighter. The opening size of this 4-inch vent is about 3.5 inches, according to the manufacturer. However, one customer received a 2.5-inch vent instead of the 4-inch diameter vent ordered, so it's crucial to verify the size when ordering.
