NavePoint Cat 6 Cables Editorial Review
The NavePoint 48-Port Cat6 UTP Unshielded Patch Panel is a basic and well-made product that comes in a black color. The hinged one side makes it easy to open and punch down the cable. The colors are easy to read and not faded, and overall it does its job for a great price. It has hooks that prevent straight forward attaching of wires by hand into each slot prior to punchdown, which took a while for one customer to figure out. However, once figured out and developed a "zigzagging" approach, it worked smoothly. Two 24-port patch panels were also purchased, which worked very well. It is easy to use and great quality. While it takes a little work to get the wire to sit down in the punch block properly before punching down, grabbing the wire with needle nose pliers and pulling it down seated it properly for subsequent punchdown. The screws included are large thread, and includes threaded snap-in inserts, which were useless for one customer's 19" rack that uses smaller, more standard fine thread screws. The panel is not shielded, and there is nowhere to attach the ground wire to on the back. With about 15 ports wired up so far, no issues with functionality have been reported.
