- Holes at the corner of each scale for placing a mark on the map, and a hole in the center to extend the compass rose with a string
- Lanyard hole in the upper left corner, approximately 2.75 by 2.75 inches in size
- Features a band of white ink around the edge for easier reading of the compass rose and grid numbers, and to prevent the tool from disappearing on the map
