It works well in scraping paint and varnish, and even multiple layers of it, but would require a replacement blade. There were some complaints about the stripped screw upon delivery, not coming with a blade, rust, and leaving big scratches on wood. However, some customers loved it to the point of purchasing more to give as gifts. It was also used as a tool for anchor holes and was "better than expected."
