The Digitech DROP Compact Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch-Shifter is a useful tool for guitarists who want to change their guitar's tuning without changing guitars, strings, or setup. The pedal has LEDs that represent a half-step down tune which you can use to tune down in half-step increments. Users can play in tunings such as E Standard, Drop D, Eb Standard, D Standard, Drop C#, Drop C, and B. However, the quality of the sound drops the further they go from the original tone, and beyond two or three semitones, the sound gets digital and less defined. It is recommended to use the pedal before distortion, so you detune your guitar, not your distortion. Placing the pedal second in the chain (right after compression) provides better tracking and clarity. The price tag of over $200 USD is a bit high for what you get, but it works.
