The Tech 21 SansAmp Character Series VT Bass DI is a great pedal, according to most reviews. It has an XLR output for mic cables to go directly into a soundboard or recording interface, and the regular Character series pedals don't have this function. It is not super versatile, but it definitely sounds great. Many customers say it is easy to dial in and great for the money. It can be used to gig directly to FOH, no amp. Some reviewers say it sounds incredible and provides the same sound as a real SVT for recording and practice without shaking the windows. While others have said that the drive sounds harshly digitized and farty when not playing softly. The build quality is excellent, and the option of parallel output is great. However, the XLR jack on the left takes up too much space on a board unless you place this at the far left, and the footswitch is a non-standard size so you can't fit a topper onto it. The Tech 21 SansAmp Character Series VT Bass DI feels like, and appears to be, very solid and well put together.
