The Hobart 770028 Welding Holder Electrode is a screw-type holder that can accept rods up to 5/16 inch and is rated at 400 amps. The electrode can burn within 1 inch from the head and can be bent to any angle while still being held secure. The compact design accepts #2 cable and can be used with any stick welder. The holder requires a 1/4 turn to release a stuck rod. However, this product is not made in the USA but in China. Customers, however, are divided when it comes to this product. Some find it good quality and easy to use, while others describe it as junk and would not recommend it to professional welders. Several customers have experienced the brass part that holds the rod with the spring mechanism chipping and breaking. Others found the design flawed and tiring to use for extended periods. Some also complained that it did not even hold a 3/32 welding rod. With that said, there were some reports of the holder surviving drops.
