The Holley 12427 Fuel Pump is a reliable electric fuel pump that handles gas and diesel well. It allows free flow when power is off and works great on carburetors. It doesn't require a pressure regulator and is easy to set up. It works well on a 1978 Ford and for replacing a mechanical pump on a 71 Chevy truck. It may not be ideal for a street rod due to noise. One downside is that it can become very loud when trying to pump and cannot build enough pressure to slow the pump plunger down. There are blogs with information on how to bypass the mechanical pump using this product, but it's recommended to install a momentary switch or cutoff switch for safety. The installation manual doesn't reference thread sealant, but it's necessary to avoid slight fuel leaks.
