The microphone is extremely rugged and versatile, making it an excellent workhorse of a studio mic. The sound quality is great for amplifying a cajon or a steel string acoustic guitar in a band mix. While it may not be the best solution for more intricate or boomy instrument sounds, the SM57 is still an affordable option that does a very decent job.
