It has a similar operation to the GP35 and is capable of transferring waypoints from one device to another, it can save up to 10,000 waypoints. A reviewer who owned the GP31 from Furuno for over 20 years upgraded to the GP39 and noted that it worked fine, but the mount is sub-par and the power Consumption is double that of GP31. There is no manual provided, but one can be found online. The device does not send NMEA sentences about which satellites it's watching, so it can't display info on an AIS unit. Users appreciated the device's accuracy and the fact it offers all three legacy versions of the NMEA standard for output via user option.
