Applied Psychology Editorial Review
In "Mindware: Tools for Smart Thinking," Richard Nisbett offers readers an engaging exploration of cognitive psychology and its implications on everyday decision-making. The book delves into the intricacies of human thought, highlighting the often unnoticed flaws in our reasoning and the biases that influence our perceptions. Readers praised Nisbett for effectively articulating complex ideas, such as the distinction between correlation and causation, in an accessible manner. This makes the book particularly appealing for newcomers to the field of psychology or those looking to refine their critical thinking skills. Those who enjoyed works like "Thinking, Fast and Slow" or "Predictably Irrational" found "Mindware" to provide a refreshing perspective, with some even arguing it is a more digestible read than its counterparts. The author ensures that each chapter remains engaging, infusing the text with relatable examples and practical rules of thumb meant to help readers navigate their everyday cognitive pitfalls. While the early chapters may lean towards simplification, this approach is seen as an effective way to introduce fundamental concepts. However, for readers already well-versed in cognitive biases and heuristics, the book may feel somewhat repetitive, offering little new information aside from a refresher. Critics noted that "Mindware" primarily targets younger audiences, such as college students, rather than seasoned professionals in related fields. While it serves as a solid introduction to cognitive biases, some more knowledgeable readers may find the content lacking depth. Overall, "Mindware" is highly recommended for those new to understanding psychological principles and for young adults preparing for college life. It stands as a resource for cultivating informed and thoughtful decisiveness in a world often clouded by flawed intuition. **

“I bought Huckberry Flint & Tinder blazer at Ubuy. My request for a return was rejected at first but later I received an apology message willing to resolve the matter without placing any burden on me. I really appreciate their resolution. The blazer was collected yesterday by DHL couriers on behalf of Ubuy. They can only do a refund and not offer a bigger size as i expected, but i am fine with that too. ”
