Peter Gabriel Format: Audio CD Progressive Rock EU Editorial Review
Peter Gabriel's self-titled solo debut, released in 1977, marks a pivotal moment in his musical career after his departure from the iconic band Genesis. This album, often referred to as "Car," showcases Gabriel's ability to merge rock, art rock, and new wave influences while exploring various lyrical themes, including introspection and transition. Collaborating with notable talents such as producer Bob Ezrin and a cadre of skilled musicians, Gabriel crafted a collection of tracks that are as eclectic as they are personal. The album opens with the quirky and haunting “Moribund the Burgermeister,” which sets a tone that is both dramatic and engaging. Following this, “Solsbury Hill” emerges as the standout hit, reflecting Gabriel's thoughts on leaving Genesis, and resonates with listeners for its catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics. “Modern Love” adds a dose of rock energy, enhanced by Gabriel's unique performance style as depicted in its iconic music video. Tracks like “Excuse Me” and “Humdrum” illustrate his adventurous spirit, mixing humor with poignant observations. As the album progresses, the listener is treated to the bluesy essence of “Waiting For the Big One” and the orchestral flair of “Down the Dolce Vita.” The final track, “Here Comes the Flood,” is a stunning ballad that highlights Gabriel's emotive vocal delivery and showcases the extraordinary musicianship in the arrangement, making it a memorable conclusion to the album. Overall, Gabriel's ability to evoke a wide array of emotional landscapes, combined with meticulous production, makes this debut a defining moment not just for him but for art rock as a genre. The album balances innovative sound with lyrical depth, proving its relevance even decades later. It serves as an essential starting point for understanding Gabriel's subsequent artistic explorations. **

“I bought Huckberry Flint & Tinder blazer at Ubuy. My request for a return was rejected at first but later I received an apology message willing to resolve the matter without placing any burden on me. I really appreciate their resolution. The blazer was collected yesterday by DHL couriers on behalf of Ubuy. They can only do a refund and not offer a bigger size as i expected, but i am fine with that too. ”
