It comes pre-configured with two 18TB hard drives in RAID 0, providing a 36TB total space. The fan is not loud, but the spinning disks produce more sound and vibrations. The drives in the device power down after inactivity. Some customers have found the device to be very loud, to shake their desktop, and to suffer from long delay times. However, others see it as a solidly built device that can save hard drives from heat death, and has a minimalist design.
