They work great and are useful for things such as door and window alarms that run on battery power, as they Conserve battery power. However, these switches draw current the whole time the window or door is closed, which means your batteries will last about two days at most. Although these switches allow current flow when the switch is near the magnet, and when magnetic contact is broken, they allow current to flow so you can control lights with a door being opened, they have some minor flaws. Firstly, they are not advertised as weatherproof, and although one user has had no issues even when submerged, it is not advisable to use them outside in bad weather conditions. Secondly, the non-wired magnet plate is weak and has to be perfectly aligned to work, so it's not worth the risk. Also, the switch on-resistance deteriorates with time, causing false alarms in the long run. In conclusion, the BNYZWOT MC-38 Surface Mount Wired NC Door Sensor Alarm Magnetic Reed Switch is a useful product, but it's better to be used indoor, where it is less exposed to bad weather conditions.
