Optima Bass Guitar Strings 680565 Editorial Review
The Optima 4440L RB Flatwound Bass Strings have earned a positive reputation among bass players for their sound quality and feel, particularly among those who play Rickenbacker basses. Many users have lauded these strings for their smooth, slinky feel and the unique tonal characteristics they bring—reminiscent of the vintage sound of the 60s. Enthusiasts searching for that classic Beatles tone have found these strings to be a perfect match for their Rickenbackers, helping artists emulate iconic sounds with ease. The low tension of the strings is another highlight, as players report that they do not feel floppy but instead provide a good balance between playability and sound definition. While the strings may have a slight tinny quality upon first installation, they settle in nicely within a few days, showcasing rich mid-tones and natural warmth without excessive brightness. However, the premium price tag has raised some concerns, especially in light of a few users experiencing premature string failure, such as corrosion on the core of the string, which detracted from their overall satisfaction. Despite this, the overwhelming sentiment remains that for players who appreciate a specific vintage sound and lower tension, these strings are a significant upgrade worth Considering. **
