The AUTO METER 2267 Oil Temperature Metric Adapter has metric threads and the thread size is 1/8in. NPT Female to M14x1.5 Male. You don't "need" sealant on the 1/8 NPT side, but it would help prevent seepage. Customers have used it successfully for transmission temp gauges and oil pressure gauges in Jeep, Toyota, and Saturn vehicles. One customer had a negative experience where the adapter snapped off inside the transmission case, but this seemed to be an isolated incident.
