It is designed to enable connection to an amp with a stock stereo without RCA outputs. It comes with a harness, box, and instructions. With this converter, one can wire the 12v to the amp wire from the battery and ground the brown and black wires. When the radio is turned on, the amp comes on, and when it is turned off, the amp powers down. It is great for LR 6x9 setups and installing another sub, though it may not work well for 2008 Mercedes ML, depending on the input signal. The dial head is located on the side, which could make tuning more challenging, and one dial adjusts both channels instead of having separate dials for each channel. The output range is not 0-8V but 0-0.5V. It may not be enough for clean sound. Also, it keeps the AMP ON while the car stereo is OFF, and it is not activated by voltage through the speaker wires. It is important to note that the brown ground wire is optional and should be grounded to bare metal nearby.
