The HHIP 3900-0027 Compound Slide Table is a versatile product overall, with a width of 5-1/2 inches and a length of 12 inches, and two t-slots of 5/8-inch x 1-inch. The cross travel of the table is 5-5/8 inches, whilst the longitudinal travel is 9-5/8 inches. The dials are graduated in 0.001 inches, with adjustable steel gibs to compensate for wear. The gib guides are poorly machined and do not stand up well to an indicator. There are mixed reviews of the product, with some customers having to clean, polish and lap the gib guides to ensure smooth operation. Some reviews reported lots of chatter and backlash in the screws, and play in the xy table, rendering the dials useless. Other customers found the xy table loose when they received it, but after cleaning it up, adjusting the gibs and greasing the surfaces, the table is now in good condition and serviceable for use. To clamp down the workpiece, buyers should Consider purchasing the recommended compatible 1018 Steel T-Slot Nut, Black Oxide Finish, Grade 8, Tapped Through, 1/2"-13 Threads, 5/8" Height, 5/8" Slot Depth. Overall, this table should be used with caution, as it seems a few customers received faulty products and/or required additional maintenance and adjustments to the table upon delivery.
