Control GX Grey Reducing Shampoo gradually reduces grey hair as you shampoo your hair. It uses a chemical reaction that depends on oxygen to activate the dye. So sealed up in the tube, it's a beige color. Once applied, it begins to react with the oxygen in the air and start darkening over the course of 5-10 minutes. The product can also oxidize over time, even when sealed, to minimize this, after use; open the tube, squeeze it so that the goop inside is just about to come out. Close the cover and make sure it snaps shut. That will expel oxygen from the now partially empty tube and seal it as well as possible. It is suggested to use it every day until you reach your desired results. The short answer is yes if you want to keep your beard color. The dye is a chemical bond that isn't going to be broken by anything other than another highly reactive chemical. So normal shampoo, pomades, clays, styling gels, beard oils, or hair sprays won't react with the dye at all. However, it's not recommended to use it on lightened, bleached, or highlighted hair, as it will darken the hair color. In terms of swimming, chlorine reacts and will affect the hair dye, but if used in a pool with proper pH balance and chlorine levels, the influence is very minimal. UV radiation from sunlight can also impact the hair dye. The effect is gradual. Overall, the product delivers what it claims, and it works to reduce grey. However, based on the feedback received, it might not work well for every person.
