Invincible Volume 14: The Viltrumite War is a high-impact, action-packed volume that could easily live up to the term 'epic' with its intergalactic fight scenes and unexpected character twists. The art and storytelling are amazing and one that truly amazes the reader. The main characters including Mark Grayson, Omniman, Oliver, Allen the Alien and Tech Jacket are involved in a battle with the Viltrumite Empire, which could not only lead to their defeat but can also bring devastation on earth. The fights are pretty violent and gruesome, with limbs being ripped off, blood and guts spilling everywhere and eviscerations galore. Despite this, the comic series is well-realized, and the characters seem to have a natural place in the narrative. The ending sequence is mellower than what the readers might be anticipating, but it leaves a lot of room for future movements. Despite being a long-running storyline's culmination, it appears lackluster and less epic than it should be with some of the characters missing the action.
