It has an omni-directional mic that is turned on to hear ambient sound for noise cancellation purposes. The earmuffs have a low profile style allowing them to fit under most army issued ach. They take 2 AAA batteries which can be replaced. There is no static noise when the volume switch is turned on. Unfortunately, there is no hard case for this product, and replacement parts are limited. The product has received very high ratings from users as it muffles the gunfire well, yet allows for communication with fellow range people. It provides excellent noise cancellation and users love the color and the fact they can make things louder or quieter themselves. The volume is even quiet enough to allow a 4-year-old to participate in loud situations. Users enjoy the device for increasing their aural situational awareness and protecting their hearing from loud sounds.
