This 8-foot-long, 4-inch beam is a great beginning beam for young gymnasts looking to practice at home. It is sturdy and stable for standing, walking and dismounts, but not for more advanced practice skills like cartwheels, turns and handstands, which can be unsafe due to the padding that causes imbalance. The beam itself is a one piece, with collapsible leg extensions. It weighs approximately 40 pounds, and the suede covering is soft and a little bit cushy. While it can be put on flat carpet, it is best on a hard surface, and it is not suitable for outside use as the suede covering would ruin. It has a weight limit of under 150 pounds according to one reviewer, while another noted that a family member over 200 pounds was able to use it without issue, despite the lack of any official weight limit. The legs do adjust to 24 inches high, but some reviewers reported that it could be wobbly at that height, despite being a good value option overall. Assembling the beam was easy with the included Allen wrench and hefty bolts and washers, and it was possible to move it to a third-floor balcony after assembly, however some customers were unhappy with the stability of the product despite the sturdy reputation it has garnered overall.
