Mijello Palettes Editorial Review
The Mijello Palette is a lightweight plastic palette with a removable clear mixing tray. The palette has two large center wells and numerous smaller wells around the edge. The smaller wells are approximately 3/4" wide by 1 1/8" long, while the two center wells are each 3 x 4". The palette is not air-tight, which could lead to dried out paints. However, it is leak proof, making it ideal for travel. A layer of Saran Wrap can be used to keep paints wet. The clear insert is raised slightly in the center, but not enough to make the paint run to the edges. The paint does bead up when first laid on the palette, but this is not a major issue for watercolorists. The product can be used for liquid watercolors and gouache as well. Several customers purchased and enjoyed the product, stating that it was easy to transport, prevented spilling, and had wells that were big enough for their large brushes. However, one reviewer did not find it to be air-tight and the paints dried out. Another reviewer noted that the paint colors jostled and cracked into bits making a mess of water paint crumbles.
