They're embossed on the bottom and do not have a non-slip feature. The 1/2" seam allowance only exists on two sides of the 12" ruler. They are original and brand new. This set of rulers is easy to read and a great deal. They are a good brand and the markings last a long time. However, some customers experienced difficulty when using them since they tend to slide, which caused cutting errors. Some also recommended gluing a small padding under the rulers.
