This rivet tool is designed for use with plastic rivets only. Users should check the stem of each rivet before inserting into the tool and remove before putting it away. If the stem has fallen inside, a toothpick can be wedged into the side of the jaws to keep them open and shaking the tool can make the stem fall out. It is also recommended to keep the tool pointing down when removing the stem. Users should not be surprised if the tool does not cut the rivet, but they can use any kind of cutter. This rivet tool can take a 5/32" shank or 1/8" to 3/16" shanks. This tool does not come with any rivets. Overall, this tool has mixed reviews. It worked like a rivet gun for some users while others found the tool to be finicky and not working properly. One user found the rivets did not lock in place before the tool broke off the end piece. Another user found that, although the tool worked as intended, they needed to spend time filing the rivet shaft flush to make it look like the OEM rivets.
